Director Housing & Regeneration

Mike Foulis
The Housing and Regeneration Directorate works towards the Scottish Government's Purpose by working with delivery partners and other stakeholders to create the right quality, quantity and types of homes and places for people to live, work and flourish.
Our Goal
Support the Government's Purpose by working with partners to ensure the right quality, quantity and types of housing and places for people to live, work and flourish.
Objectives
- Contribute to the Economic Recovery Programme by reshaping housing and regeneration policy both to support recovery and growth and to improve value for money and customer focus
- Support both households and jobs through continued investment in affordable housing, by providing targeted and proportionate financial support to first-time buyers and to home-owners at risk of repossession, and by responding flexibly to harness opportunities in the private development sector
- Contribute to the Government's Purpose and national outcomes by enabling a more responsive housing market which better balances high quality housing supply with housing demand and need
- Offer quality, choice and value for money for taxpayers and tenants in social housing and for housing benefit recipients in the private sector
- Help meet housing need and support economic participation through enabling a private rented sector with improved standards and reputation
- Enhance the quality of the built and natural environments, reduce harmful emissions and provide warmth for vulnerable households by improving housing quality
- Tackle inequalities, encourage and sustain economic participation by preventing homelessness and providing access to appropriate accommodation, advice or support
- Stimulate and share sustainable economic recovery and growth across Scotland through supporting successful regeneration of the most deprived communities and helping to create high quality places in effective partnership with communities, local agencies and the private sector
- Support flourishing independent lives in our communities by enabling the provision of appropriate services to vulnerable people
- Ensure our public services are high quality, continually improving, efficient and responsive to local people's needs
