Information about expenditure on furniture purchased for Bute House, the First Minister's official residence in Edinburgh, including a list of items and dates of each purchase.

Since May 2007 three items of furniture have been purchased, all in August 2008.

  • Adam style side table, cost £2,600
  • A pair of double wall sconces, cost £2,450
  • A two drawer side table, cost £1,650

The purchases are sympathetic to the building and part of an ongoing improvement programme to maintain the Georgian character of the house.

Other furniture purchases for Bute House dating back to devolution are:

  • March 2006 - Furniture for sitting room and bedrooms - cost £14,957.00 (ex VAT)
  • March 2002 - Furniture for study - cost £16,949.00 (ex VAT)
  • 1999-2000 - Furniture for new Cabinet Room - costs are not available due to files having been destroyed as part of the then Scottish Executives file review process
